Well it’s been a while since I wrote here. Not that I haven’t had things to write about I’ve just not gotten around to do it. In the personal department we can note that I’ve been shopping extremely much this summer. I’ve gotten new shoes since the old ones were starting to give upp.

Besides buying new shorts I’ve also ordered new glasses. They haven’t arrived yet so I’m eagerly awaiting a SMS from Specsavers. Doesn’t seem like much this is an extreme amount of shopping when compared to, well lets say the last 3 years.

I’ve also managed to have 2½ weeks of vacation. It was nice and I got plenty of coding done but next year it needs to be planned a little bit better. 2½ weeks of sitting at home (since it was shitty weather) isn’t really that great in the end.

And by the way, I am the cat pleaser. Me and my girlfriend visited some friends over the weekend and their cat chose me as the most interesting person for some reason. Try to eat crayfish while you have a cat sitting on the table a few decimeters next to your plate. Then imaging the cat liking its lips and looking really interested in your food. Unfortunately it decided to act on its interest and I had to defend my food. It was an adventure…

Oh, If anybody wants to give med 44000 SEK I’d be delighted. I just window shopped at Apple Store. No one? *sigh* I guess that means that I really need to get my business running so that I can get some income.

Yes I am a sheep. I’ve done as everyone else and is now an active member of Facebook. My guess is that I won’t be that active and that I won’t be taking much initiative by myself, basically I’m a member for show. Well at least other people can see me there if they want to.

Today I think I took some sort of world record in being sick and tired of work. I am so glad that I only have tomorrow left of this work week, it will be so nice to have both Thursday and Friday off.

So my personal theme is at least half-done so I thought I’d activate it. It looks like shit in IE6 but I haven’t bothered fixing it yet and I still don’t know if I’m gonna bother.Maybe I’ll just throw in a warning that says “you’re using an ancient browser – please upgrade”.

Besides the new theme I’ve also activated some new features. Images are now shown in a lightboxish effect, I’ve added a wiki (to replace Wordpress pages since I don’t really get along with them) and a file repository. The file repository contains the plugins I’m using to get the lightbox (or to be exact the SqueezeBox) and more info can be found in the wiki.

Speaking of features I’m also working on a gallery, unfortunatley it doesn’t really want to work the way I do but we’ll see who wins in the end.

In unrelated news: Last sunday me and my girlfriend visited something that would best be described as a fare. Lots of people and lots of stuff up for sale. I’m not a big shopper when I’m not on the hunt for something specific but I did actually buy a belt. A handmade leather belt with a really cool pattern. Unfortunatley I forgott to ask my personal photographer (a.k.a. girlfriend) to take a photo otherwise I would have posted a picture of it.

The day didn’t start as well as it could have. First of all we overslept by two hours, this was caused by two reasons, yesterdays hard work and that I personaly had “insomnia light” untill 02.30. Another factor is that when Murphy wants to partner up with you say no (that won’t realy help though since he does what he wants). Basically everything that could go wrong went wrong. After some really annoying problems things started to go smoothly again. Until we came to the end where we needed to form cut the pieces to fit. One piece went to the trash because it moved and created a wide gap in the wrong end while being nailed. After redoing that one and then get some help while nailing it to the roof. Then we went to the next problem area. We needed to create a piece with a cut-out area and a slanted end. Due to a miss-alignment (or rather an alignment) of the extending wood bars and a strange measurment error we had to redo that piece and that was not fun… After that we just had to put up one more pice and the ceiling was done. Of course we ran into some problems while nailing it but we managed to get it up. At 00.30 Saturday, June 28th moms new kitchen ceiling was done.

Now this is only half of the kitchen so we will need to do the other half some other time. It will probably be much easier since there isn’t anything done on that half yet (this hopefully means no measurment errors between the rows in the ceiling) and since we now have done it once before.

With some luck there will be more pictures tomorrow. Speaking of pictures, my personal photographer…err…girlfriend has colored her hair (just temporary, it washes out after 24 washes) and it turned out quite nicely.

Today we started with mom’s kitchen ceiling. It had been started a long time ago but nothing had come out of that. First of we need to add more “stakes” across the ceiling so that we can attach the new ceiling to something.

After an hour we had managed to attach three new stakes to the ceiling. I had also measured and sawed small pieces of wood. The small pieces of wood are made for lowering the ceiling.

After more time, over an hour of measuring, hammering, more measuring and more hammering all big pieces where in place. The only thing lacking now are the last small bits.

After an hours break for dinner (whick in my case was an quite good pizza called Acapulco) we put the last pieces of wood in place. Now it’s time to start putting up the ceiling!

After several of hours of work we have put up 5 rows of new ceiling and working while the iron is hot we start preparing for a sixth row. That’s when we notice it. The ceiling rows are too wide. They should be 30cm from center to center, they are 31cm. This means that new pieces of ceiling can’t be attached. Naughty father! (He is the one responisble for this error.) This means that we need to tear down all reaming rows and then take the correct measurements and attach new rows. Yay… This is really good news since the clock is half past ten in the evening.

Thats how it looks when we torn away the rows that are wrong. We will probably also have to tear away the longest on of the remaing. We have started putting up new attachments for the rows but due to an error we will need to redo the second one. Our work for tomorrow is clear.

I here by pronounce this blog open for business. It looks boring and uninhabited but a better theme is in the making. More on why it isn’t ready in another post.
